Eclipse
In
a solar eclipse, the moon casts a shadow onto the surface of the earth.
A total eclipse appears to anyone over whom the shadow passes you
would see the moon's disk completely cover the sun . If the path of the shadow misses you
by a small distance, you may see a partial eclipse in which some of the
sun's disk is not covered by the moon (you are only in the penumbra of
the moon's shadow).
